Investing in SEO is easy!
No, the reality is that this couldn't be further from the truth!
SEO is all about finding the right concepts and tailoring them to your advantage. You have to do everything you can to make the SEO results produce results quickly and generate a lot of sales.
Again, SEO doesn’t work that way.
SEO is quite simple, you invest in it, optimize your website and wait.
Yes, patience is the biggest factor between success and failure with SEO.
Although I said SEO is simple, there is a complex set of criteria which needs to be configured ... then you wait!
A small change to the process can be picked up by the search engines in a few weeks or a month. More complex changes can take many months for the search engines to analyse and adjust your ranking accordingly.
Getting your SEO right can bring amazing results which can make a huge difference to your business. SEO is a long term process and requires investment and a quality approach. But the rewards can be highly profitable and long lasting.
There are a few key elements to keep in mind.
Firstly, if your niche is very competitive and there are a few established rivals, the process will be slow. If you have found a tight, nicely targeted niche where there are not many opposition companies, you will see results a lot faster.
You also need to ensure you focus on the important areas of SEO for your niche.
Optimising for the right keywords is critical.
Commitment and focus is crucial to ensuring the results you get from your SEO efforts are maximised and give you the best return for your investment.
The best time to start your SEO efforts is NOW.
In other words, the earlier the better.

Want to drive more traffic to your online shop?”
This is something most eCommerce Shop owners need to address at some point!
Have you spent a massive amount of time and effort to get your shop up and running and when you launch all you hear are 'crickets'? No sales!
Have you been running your shop for a while and found your growth has stalled?
Maybe you've built a million dollar business and you want to take it to the next level!
No matter if you're trying to attract your first customer or your 10,000th customer, generating more traffic to your online store is a crucial part of growing your business.
If your site is optimized correctly, getting more traffic to your site could mean more customers and more sales.
Here’s 5 great ideas to help drive more traffic to your website and help convert them to sales.
1. Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)
Your online shop is just a beautiful webpage if no one can find it.
SEO is the technique of making your page, or products, appear in the top of the results when potential customers are searching online.
It’s important that your shop appears at, or near, the top of the search results, especially given around one third of clicks go to the top organic result on Google.
SEO is not easy but when done correctly will have long lasting benefits for your online shop and your business.
I’ve put together a brief summary of what’s involved with the basics of SEO.
You can find it here. <<Basics of SEO>>
2. Content Marketing
Most people think of Content Marketing as just a Blog. There’s more to it than that.
Creating informative, interesting and engaging information you will attract more visits to your shop and potentially convert them into sales.
There are many ways to connect with your customers with great content including videos, podcasts, ebooks and helpful guides.
You can position yourself as an industry leader by providing informative original content and build a community around your brand. You can deliver posts and guides your customers will find interesting and relevant. You can even include topics around your products.
Content marketing also gives you the opportunity to dominate the search results by including high traffic keywords and phrases. Including relevant keywords and phrases is the best way to get to the top and have an advantage over your competition.
3. Paid Advertising on Social Media.
SEO is a great sustainable long-term strategy for ensuring your website and products appear at the top of search results.
When you are first starting out, or when you want to go to the next level, paid advertising tends to have an ‘instant hit’ when you are building the traffic to your shop.
Paid social media ads let you produce highly targeted campaigns which send tailor-made ads to potential customers who are more likely to click on your products and purchase. A highly targeted and relevant social media campaign will increase traffic to your site and is another important ranking factor.
The various social media platforms can be used to target different geographic and demographic areas.
The main social media platforms you should consider are:
Facebook is the largest social media platform. With over 1.7 billion monthly users there are endless opportunities to reach new customers and send them to your online shop.
You can use Facebook to target a wide range of criteria including location, interests, behaviour and many others. The power of Facebook includes re-targeting people who have previously visited your site and, maybe, not bought.
Instagram is a very popular platform, especially with the younger group, aged between 15 and 35 who make up 73% of its users.
This is a great platform to use if your market is a younger audience.
Research shows that 93% of people who use Pinterest use it when preparing to buy and 52% have purchased a product online after finding it on Pinterest.
It’s a great platform to advertise on if you are in, or looking to break into, Niche markets like DIY, crafts or fashion.
4. Contests or Giveaways
Contests and Giveaways are great ways to quickly increase the traffic to your site. Prizes and rewards provide a powerful incentive for getting both current and potential customers to engage with your shop.
Unlike SEO, which is a long-term customer attraction strategy, contests and giveaways can give your business a ‘quick boost’ and gives you the opportunity to re-target the visitors through other channels.
Influencers are highly trusted people who have established a large following so getting them to feature your products is a highly effective way to increase your traffic and exposure.
Research confirms 92% of customers value word-of-mouth recommendations from people they trust over any other form of advertising.
More Traffic equals More Customers
That’s a brief summary of some highly effective tactics which will help you drive more customers to your site and potentially turn them into sales.
You then have the opportunity to turn them from casual shoppers into returning customers and ‘raving fans’.
I’ll try not to get too technical, but I believe it’s important clients have a basic understanding of some of the important terms relating to Search Engine Optimisation (SEO).
There are three main factors which are critical when ranking websites:
This is the most important and is where most sites are lacking.
Content is the amount of words (or information) your site has on each page. When someone searches for something on the internet, the search engine, Google, Bing, Yahoo and others, looks at every word on every page on every website in the world and looks for its relevancy to what the person typed in. (The search engine indexes the results for future searches but that's another story)
Therefore, what is written on your page helps the search engine determine what it wants the person to see. If they see the information on your page is more relevant than the information on other pages, you will rank higher. It’s that simple … well not quite.
Keywords are the actual words or phrases people type in when they want to find something.
Keywords are often known as Anchor Text. They anchor your site to what it’s about. For example. If you happened to be in the education business, you would want the term ‘education’ as the term people will find you for.
When someone types in ‘education’ the search engine looks for all the sites which have ‘education’ in the content on their site and ranks them according to the relevancy of that Content. (or relevancy to the term education)
Therefore, it is essential you have the word ‘education’ in the content on your website if you are in the education business.
Further to that, you can have as many relevant ‘keywords’ as possible in your content and you can rank for any of them.
Backlinks are where your site (or page) is connected to other pages. These pages need to be relevant to your industry.
I won’t go into too much depth here but when you look at a website you might find a word which is a link. (it is usually in blue .. or a different colour from all the other text).
Here’s one …. Shopify If you click on it you will go to a page on my site, but you can link to pages on other websites as well.
Backlinks are very important because, as I described above, The search engines looks at every word in every page of your website and if it finds a ‘link’ it will follow it to see if it also is relevant to the search term. If it is, the search engine will treat that as a positive and give you even more relevancy which will help to rank you even higher.
I know that’s a lot to absorb and you don’t really need to fully understand it, you just need to know that we do.
However, given the changes going on in the World now the internet has become even more relevant than it has ever been and it’s good to have a basic understanding of how these things work.
There are many more things involved to get a website to rank in the search engine results.
We can do a full analysis of your site and identify what needs improving and what needs to be added.
Why focus so much on getting you to the top?
Statistics confirm that more than 80% of people will choose one of the top 3 websites which appear in their search results.
I don’t need to explain how important that is!
